7. Website, Cookies and Analytics
Our website may use cookies, analytics tools and similar technologies to improve website performance, understand user activity and support marketing or service improvement.
You can adjust your browser settings to refuse cookies, although some website functions may not operate properly if cookies are disabled.
8. Newsletter, Subscriptions and Provider Intelligence
If you subscribe to the E-Skills newsletter, we collect the details you provide (such as name, email address, organisation, role, optional RTO or CRICOS provider codes, state and topic preferences) together with a record of your consent, including the consent wording, date, time and source page. New website subscriptions use a double confirmation process and only become active when you confirm by email.
We also maintain provider information drawn from public sources, principally the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) as published by the Australian Government, including provider names, registration details, courses and locations. We may match this public register information with our subscriber and client records to understand the provider sector, keep our records accurate and, where relevant, include register updates that may relate to your organisation in newsletter content. Public register information is not, by itself, treated as consent to receive marketing email: contact details obtained only from public sources are not added to our newsletter audience unless an authorised E-Skills administrator records an appropriate basis such as your express consent or an existing business relationship.
Newsletter emails are delivered through a reputable third-party email service provider, which may process delivery data (such as bounces, delivery status and link interactions) on our behalf, including on servers located outside Australia. We use this delivery and engagement information to maintain list hygiene, measure interest in topics and comply with anti-spam obligations. We do not use engagement data to make or publish conclusions about any provider’s regulatory compliance.
Every newsletter email includes our business details together with links to update your preferences and to unsubscribe. When you unsubscribe, we stop marketing emails immediately and retain the minimum information needed (your email address and the date of the request) on a permanent suppression list so that the request is honoured, including against future imports. You can also change topics, pause emails, correct your details or change your email address at any time through the preference centre link included in each email, or by contacting us.
9. Storage and Security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
Information may be stored electronically using secure systems, cloud platforms, email systems, document management systems, portal systems or other business technology platforms.
No system can be guaranteed as completely secure. Users are responsible for ensuring that information they submit is accurate and that account credentials are kept confidential.
10. Access and Correction
You may request access to personal information we hold about you, or request that we correct information that is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date.
We may need to verify your identity before responding to an access or correction request.
11. Retention of Information
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably required for business, legal, regulatory, accounting, insurance, dispute resolution or service delivery purposes.
Where information is no longer required, we may securely delete, de-identify or archive it in accordance with our internal recordkeeping practices.
12. Overseas Disclosure
Some of our technology, cloud, hosting, portal, email, payment or software providers may store or process information outside Australia.
Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to use reputable service providers and protect information in line with applicable privacy expectations.
